Every podcast setup guide gives you the same advice. None of them have seen your room.
You've read the blog posts. Acoustic foam on the walls. Close the door. Use a dynamic mic. Maybe throw a rug down.
The advice isn't wrong. It's just generic. It doesn't know your room has a glass wall on one side, or that your desk faces a corner that creates standing waves, or that the HVAC register is three feet from your mic.
The gap isn't information. It's diagnosis.
Two inputs. One diagnosis.
Visual scan
Take photos of your recording space. PodSetup analyzes your room for acoustic problem areas — hard surfaces, parallel walls, untreated corners, reflective monitors — and recommends where to set up based on what it sees.
Audio analysis
Record a short audio sample from your space. Native iOS DSP measures reverb characteristics, frequency profile, and background noise. No external hardware needed.
The analysis combines both inputs into a single, specific diagnosis — not generic tips, but findings about your room with clear explanations of why each issue matters.
Clarity before you buy anything.
Room diagnosis
A plain-language assessment of your recording environment. Which surfaces are creating problems. Where reflections are strongest. What's actually affecting your sound versus what to fix first.
Equipment context
Your gear, identified and evaluated in context. Not "best mic lists" — specific settings for your equipment based on your actual space, and where to focus improvements.
Prioritized recommendations
Ranked suggestions based on impact, not price. Sometimes the fix is repositioning your desk. Sometimes it's a $30 panel in the right spot. The app tells you which changes matter most for your room.
What this isn't.
PodSetup Studio uses your phone's microphone for audio analysis. That means directional guidance, not studio-grade calibration. The diagnosis is accurate enough to identify real problems and prioritize real solutions — but it's not a replacement for a professional acoustic consultant if you're building a commercial studio.
This is a second opinion for your recording space. Not an oracle.
Try it on your room. Decide after.
Your first full analysis is free. No account required.
If it's useful and you want to analyze more spaces or run new analyses as your setup changes — PodSetup Pro starts at $7.99/month.
No affiliate links. No equipment partnerships. The only thing PodSetup sells is the diagnosis.
PodSetup Studio is built by Infral Labs — a small studio that builds calm, opinionated apps for moments where clarity matters more than novelty.
The app exists because every podcast setup guide we found gave the same advice without ever looking at the actual room.
